A Balto-Slavic connection has also been proposed, especially Old Church Slavonic <mentioned xml:lang="chu" target="#cog_chu_jad"><ref target="#cog_chu_jad">ядъ</ref></mentioned> &lt; Proto-Slavic <mentioned xml:lang="" target="#cog_sla-x-proto_jad"><ref target="#cog_sla-x-proto_jad">*jadъ</ref></mentioned>, although the precise preform and relationship are less secure; more recent discussion continues to associate this group with <mentioned xml:lang="" target="#cog_ine-x-proto_h2eyd"><ref target="#cog_ine-x-proto_h2eyd">*h₂eyd-</ref></mentioned> <bibl corresp="#matasovic2022" n="12">Matasović 2022: 12</bibl>.</seg>
