Compare Old English <mentioned xml:lang="gmw-x-proto">Onela</mentioned>, Old High German <mentioned xml:lang="gmw-x-proto">Anilo</mentioned>/<mentioned xml:lang="gmw-x-proto">Analo</mentioned>, Gothic 𐌰𐌽𐌰𐌻𐌰 (<mentioned xml:lang="gmw-x-proto">Anala</mentioned>)/𐌰𐌽𐌹𐌻𐌰 (<mentioned xml:lang="gmw-x-proto">Anila</mentioned>), and Old Norse <mentioned xml:lang="gmw-x-proto">Áli</mentioned>/<mentioned xml:lang="gmw-x-proto">Óli</mentioned>; the variation <mentioned xml:lang="gmw-x-proto">Anul- ~ Anil- ~ Anal- </mentioned>appears to belong to the same hypocoristic name family <bibl corresp="#lloyd1988" n="s.v. ana²">Lloyd &amp; Springer 1988: s.v. ana²</bibl> <bibl corresp="#peterson2004" n="37">Peterson 2004: 37</bibl>.
