Serangeli <bibl corresp="#serangeli2020" n="208–209" ana="#omit-author">2020: 208–209</bibl> reconstructs the inherited formation as <mentioned xml:lang="gmw-x-proto">*h₂énH-o-</mentioned>, taking the geminate of Hittite <mentioned xml:lang="" target="#cog_hit_ha_an_na_hanna"><ref target="#cog_hit_ha_an_na_hanna">𒄩𒀭𒈾</ref></mentioned> as evidence for <mentioned xml:lang="gmw-x-proto">*-nH-</mentioned>, whereas Olsen <bibl corresp="#olsen2020" n="81–82" ana="#omit-author">2020: 81–82</bibl> prefers the less committal stem <mentioned xml:lang="gmw-x-proto">*h₂an(h)-</mentioned> and notes that the gemination could instead be hypocoristic and that even initial <mentioned xml:lang="gmw-x-proto">*h₂ </mentioned>is not entirely secure.
