The precise morphological relationship of <mentioned xml:lang="gmw-x-proto">*h₂eu-tu-</mentioned> to this laryngeal-final root is uncertain. The adjective should probably be distinguished from <mentioned xml:lang="" target="#pgmc_authijaz"><ref target="#pgmc_authijaz">*auþijaz</ref></mentioned>, although Orel <bibl corresp="#orel2003" n="30, s.v. *auþjaz" ana="#omit-author">2003: 30, s.v. *auþjaz</bibl> suggests that the two may nevertheless be historically related; Lehmann <bibl corresp="#lehmann1986a" n="52, s.v. *auþs" ana="#omit-author">1986a: 52, s.v. *auþs</bibl> treats them as identical.</seg>
