Ringe <bibl corresp="#ringe2017" n="149" ana="#omit-author">2017: 149</bibl> identifies a PIE diminutive suffix <mentioned xml:lang="gmw-x-proto">*-el- </mentioned>which seems to likely be derived from the same suffix. This suffix is formally identical with the instrument suffix <mentioned xml:lang="gmw-x-proto">*-ilaz</mentioned>, but the two are historically distinct.</seg>
