*blusją

Runic: ᛒᛚᚢᛊᛃᚨ Pronunciation: /ˈblus.jɑ̃/

noun · neuter · ja-stem

Meanings

firebrand, torch

Etymology

Uncertain. Perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *bʰel- (‘to blaze; glow; bright flame; white’). In order to get the Proto-Germanic derivation, the PIE root would have had to have been something like a zero-grade form of **bʰlew-s-, which would have been **bʰlu-s-yom, including the addition of the neuter suffix.
