*snabulaz

Runic: ᛊᚾᚨᛒᚢᛚᚨᛉ Pronunciation: /ˈsnɑ.βu.lɑz/

noun · masculine · a-stem

Meanings

  1. snout; muzzle
  2. mouth

Etymology

From *snabjaz + *-ulaz (diminutive suffix), which Pfeifer implicitly considers to be from a series of onomatopoeic words restricted to Germanic. Probably from the same ultimate source as *snūtaz (‘snout’). Compare also Lithuanian snãpas (‘snout’).
